Speedify’s Pair & Share Cellular Sharing Feature: Pairing and Unpairing

This article explains how to pair and unpair devices using Speedify's Pair & Share feature, which lets Speedify users on the same local network wirelessly share and combine LTE, 4G, and 5G cellular connections between devices.

Requirements

  • Speedify installed and running on both devices
  • Both devices connected to the same local network (Wi-Fi network or router)
  • The local network must allow MDNS (Multicast DNS) internet traffic between devices - Speedify uses this to discover devices automatically

Let's Get Started

To open the Pair & Share menu, tap Start by Pairing a Device on the Speedify dashboard if you have no paired devices yet. You can also reach it from the Speedify settings menu: tap the hamburger menu in the top left corner of the dashboard and select Pair & Share.

Once inside the Pair & Share menu, Speedify will automatically scan for any new or previously paired devices on the same local network.

Step 1: Pair a Device

In the Pair & Share menu, look under Unpaired Devices for the device you want to connect with. Tap on it to send a pairing request to that device. Once the other device accepts the request, both devices can use Pair & Share to share their 4G/5G cellular connections with each other.

Note: For Pair & Share to work, your local network must not be blocking MDNS internet traffic. Both devices need to be able to communicate with each other on the network.

Step 2: Unpair a Device

To unpair a device, go to the Pair & Share menu and tap on the device under Paired Devices. You can also tap on a paired device directly from the Speedify dashboard. You'll be prompted to confirm the unpairing. Once you confirm, the devices unpair instantly and Pair & Share stops between them.

Pair My Devices (Auto Pairing)

The Pair My Devices setting controls whether Speedify automatically pairs your device with other devices on your account that are on the same local network. You can configure it in the Pair & Share menu.

  • Teams, Family, Mine - Speedify will automatically pair with any device on the same Teams or Family plan (or any device signed into the same Speedify account) as soon as it's discovered on the local network.
  • My Devices Only - Speedify will only auto-pair with devices signed in to your specific Speedify account.
  • Manual - Automatic pairing is disabled. You'll need to manually initiate each pairing.

To turn off automatic pairing entirely, set Pair My Devices to Manual.
