Can I combine a 4G/5G dongle and my iPhone's Internet connection on my Mac? Yes, Speedify can help!

This article walks you through how to use Speedify on your Mac to combine a 4G/5G cellular USB dongle connection and your iPhone's Personal Hotspot connection at the same time, giving you faster upload and download speeds and a more stable internet connection.

What You'll Need

  • A 4G/5G cellular USB dongle
  • An iPhone with an active cellular data plan that supports Personal Hotspot
  • A USB cable to connect your iPhone to your Mac
  • Speedify installed on your Mac

Let's Get Started

Step 1

Connect your cellular USB dongle to a USB port on your Mac.

To confirm the dongle is recognized, go to System Settings > Network and look for your dongle's adapter in the list on the left. It should appear as a new network interface.

Step 2

Enable Personal Hotspot on your iPhone.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot (or Settings > Personal Hotspot) and turn it on.

Note: If you don't see the Personal Hotspot option, contact your carrier to confirm that Personal Hotspot is included in your plan. You can also visit Apple's support page for more details.

Step 3

Connect your iPhone to your Mac with a USB cable. If your iPhone displays a prompt asking "Trust This Computer?", tap Trust.

Next, go to System Settings > Network, select iPhone USB from the list on the left, and make sure the connection is active. If you see a "Disable unless needed" checkbox, deselect it so macOS keeps the connection available.
