Can I combine Wi-Fi and Ethernet on my Mac? Yes, Speedify can help!

This article explains how to use Speedify on your Mac to combine your Wi-Fi connection and Ethernet connection at the same time, giving you faster upload and download speeds and a more reliable connection.

What You'll Need

  • A Mac with Wi-Fi
  • An Ethernet cable and access to a router or modem with an open port
  • A built-in Ethernet port, or a USB to Ethernet adapter (or Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter) if your Mac doesn't have one
  • Speedify installed on your Mac

Let's Get Started

Step 1

Connect your Mac to a Wi-Fi network. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar at the top right of your screen. If Wi-Fi is turned off, choose Turn Wi-Fi On first. Then select a Wi-Fi network from the list.

For more help with Wi-Fi on macOS, see Apple's support article on connecting to Wi-Fi.

Step 2

Connect your Mac to your router or modem using an Ethernet cable. Plug one end into your Mac's Ethernet port and the other into an open port on your router or modem. In most cases, your Mac will connect to the internet automatically.

If your Mac doesn't have a built-in Ethernet port, you can use a USB to Ethernet adapter or a Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet adapter. For more help, see Apple's support article on Ethernet connections.

Step 3

Download and install Speedify on your Mac. Once Speedify is running, it will automatically detect both your Wi-Fi connection and your Ethernet connection and start combining them. You'll get faster upload and download speeds along with a more stable and secure connection.

Did you know - you can combine more than just two internet connections at once? If you have a 4G/5G cellular connection available (through a hotspot or USB tethering from your phone), Speedify can bond that together with your Wi-Fi connection and Ethernet connection all at the same time for even faster upload and download speeds.
