Fixing the Android VPN Dialog Issue

When Speedify starts on your Android phone, Android requires you to approve a VPN permission dialog before Speedify can connect. This article explains when you'll see that dialog, how to approve it, and what to do if you can't click the OK button.

When You'll See the Speedify VPN Dialog

Android will show the Speedify VPN permission dialog in the following situations:

  • The first time you run the Speedify app on your Android phone
  • After you reboot your Android phone
  • After you've used a different VPN app on the same device

How to Approve the VPN Dialog

Step 1

When the VPN dialog appears, check whether your device shows an "I trust this application" checkbox. If you see it, check that box first before doing anything else.

Step 2

Tap OK to grant Speedify permission. You should see Speedify begin connecting immediately after you tap OK.

If You Can't Tap OK

If the OK button or the "I trust this application" checkbox is unresponsive, another app is likely displaying a screen overlay on top of the dialog. Overlay apps, such as screen dimming or blue light filter apps, can block Android's VPN permission dialog from receiving your taps.

Some known apps that can cause this are:

  • Lux Brightness
  • Night Mode
  • Twilight

Step 1

Close all apps running in the background on your Android phone, especially any brightness, night mode, or screen filter apps.

Step 2

Return to Speedify and try connecting again. The VPN dialog should now respond to your taps normally.
