Can I combine Wi-Fi and my iPhone's Internet connection on my PC? You can, with Speedify

This article explains how to use Speedify on your Windows PC to combine your Wi-Fi connection with your iPhone's 4G/5G cellular connection for faster upload and download speeds and a more reliable connection.

What You'll Need

  • A Windows PC connected to a Wi-Fi network
  • An iPhone with a cellular data plan that supports Personal Hotspot
  • A USB cable to connect your iPhone to your PC
  • iTunes installed on your Windows PC (required for USB tethering drivers)
  • Speedify installed on your Windows PC

Let's Get Started

Step 1

Make sure your PC is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Click the Wi-Fi icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar (system tray). If you aren't already connected, turn on Wi-Fi using the toggle in the lower-left of the pop-up, then select your network.

Step 2

Enable Personal Hotspot on your iPhone.

Personal Hotspot lets your iPhone share its 4G/5G cellular connection with other devices over Wi-Fi, USB, or Bluetooth. To turn it on, go to Settings > Personal Hotspot (or Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot) and flip the switch to on.

From this screen you can check the name of your iPhone (which becomes the hotspot name) and set a password for the hotspot.

Note: If you don't see the Personal Hotspot option, contact your carrier to confirm that tethering is included in your plan.

Step 3

Connect your iPhone to your PC with a USB cable.

Before plugging in, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your PC. iTunes includes the drivers Windows needs to recognize your iPhone over USB.

Once connected, your iPhone may display an alert asking "Trust This Computer?" Tap Trust to proceed. Your iPhone should appear under Devices in the left panel of iTunes.

If Windows doesn't recognize your iPhone, try a different USB cable. If it's still not detected, open Device Manager > Other Devices (or Portable Devices) > iPhone, right-click, and select Update Driver > Search Automatically. Restart your PC if the issue persists.

Once your iPhone is recognized, Windows should automatically start using its cellular connection. Click the network icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar, and your iPhone should appear at the top of the network list.

Step 4

Download and install Speedify on your Windows PC.

Download Speedify here. Once it's running, Speedify will automatically detect your active internet connections, including your Wi-Fi connection and your tethered iPhone's cellular connection, and begin combining them. You'll get faster upload and download speeds and a more stable connection without any manual configuration.

You can manage settings, view connection statistics, and apply limits to individual connections by clicking on them from the Speedify dashboard or by navigating to them through the main Settings menu.

Alternative: Go Wireless with Pair & Share

If you'd rather not use a USB cable, Speedify's Pair & Share feature lets you combine internet connections across devices wirelessly. Here's how to set it up:

  1. Install Speedify on all devices you want to pair.
  2. Make sure all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Open Pair & Share in Speedify's settings and tap the device you want to pair with to send an invitation.
  4. Accept the invitation on the other device.

Once paired, both devices share and receive each other's connections at the same time. All internet traffic between paired devices is fully encrypted, and you stay in control of permissions, data limits, and pairing at all times.

Did you know - Speedify can combine more than two internet connections at once? Add a mobile hotspot, a second Wi-Fi connection, or a wired connection alongside your tethered iPhone for even faster upload and download speeds. Learn more about combining multiple internet connections with Speedify.
