Can I use Wi-Fi and Cellular at the same time on iPhone? Yes, Speedify can help!

This article explains how to use Speedify on your iPhone to combine your Wi-Fi network and 4G/5G cellular connections for faster upload and download speeds and a more reliable internet connection. Using both networks simultaneously allows Speedify to keep you connected even if one connection becomes weak or drops out.

Requirements

Before you start, make sure you have:

  • The latest version of Speedify installed from the App Store.
  • Both a Wi-Fi network and a 4G/5G cellular connection available on your iPhone.

Let's Get Started

Step 1

Connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Select and connect to your preferred Wi-Fi network.
  4. Confirm the Wi-Fi icon appears in the status bar at the top of the screen.

Step 2

Make sure your 4G/5G cellular connection is turned on.

  1. Return to Settings.
  2. Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data, depending on your region).
  3. Toggle Cellular Data on.
  4. Confirm you see signal bars and a mobile data indicator such as 4G, LTE or 5G in the status bar.

Step 3

Open Speedify and let it combine your two internet connections.

  1. Launch the Speedify app on your iPhone.
  2. Sign in to your Speedify account if you haven't already.
  3. On the main Speedify dashboard, you'll see both connections listed: Wi-Fi and Cellular.
  4. Speedify will automatically combine both internet connections using its channel bonding technology, giving you faster upload and download speeds and improved reliability.

If one connection drops (for example, if your Wi-Fi network disconnects), Speedify automatically reroutes your internet traffic through the remaining connection without interrupting your session.

Step 4

(Optional) Adjust how Speedify manages each connection.

  1. On the dashboard, tap the connection you want to manage.
  2. By default, the priority is set to Automatic. To maximize performance, set both connections to Primary so Speedify actively uses both at the same time.
  3. You can also set Data Limits on your 4G/5G cellular connection to avoid exceeding your monthly plan.

For more details, see Connection Settings.

Step 5

Verify that Speedify is combining your internet connections.

  1. Check the Speedify dashboard. Both Wi-Fi and Cellular should show as Connected.
  2. Run a speed test from the Performance Test section in the Speedify menu, or use speedtest.net to compare your speeds.

See Testing Speed in Speedify for more information.

How Speedify Combines Your Connections

Speedify works as a bonding VPN (Virtual Private Network). It encrypts your internet traffic and sends it through multiple internet connections at the same time to a Speedify Server. This gives you:

  • Faster upload and download speeds by combining bandwidth from all available networks.
  • Automatic failover so if one connection drops, Speedify keeps you online using the other.
  • Greater reliability for video calls, live streaming, and other activities where a dropped connection causes problems.
