Fixing Blank Speedify User Interface Issue
This article explains what to do if the Speedify user interface (UI) shows a blank page, a constant spinner, or a "Speedify is not running" message when you open the app. These symptoms usually mean Speedify's UI can't communicate with the Speedify background (daemon) process.
There are two common causes:
- The Speedify background process didn't start or is crashing.
- Something on your system is blocking the communication between the UI and the background process.
Follow the steps below for your operating system.
Windows
Step 1
Check that the Speedify service is running. Open Windows Task Manager, go to the Services tab, and look for the Speedify service. If it's not running, right-click it and choose Start Service.
Step 2
Check for the Speedify background process. In Task Manager, look through the list of running processes for speedify.exe or speedify64.exe . If that process isn't there, it may be crashing. In that case, please generate your Speedify logs and send the resulting zip file from your desktop to support@speedify.com for further help.
Step 3
Windows Server only: If you're running Speedify on Windows Server, make sure the Wireless LAN (Local Area Network) Service feature is installed. Speedify requires it to run properly.
Step 4
Check for third-party security software that may be blocking Speedify. Review any antivirus, firewall, or security programs installed on your PC and make sure they aren't interfering with Speedify.
Adaware: Adaware is one program known to cause a conflict with Speedify. Disabling settings within Adaware isn't enough; the Adaware service process itself must be stopped. Follow these steps to fix the conflict (note: Adaware Web Protection will be unavailable after renaming the file, but Speedify will work correctly):
- Stop the Ad-Aware service.
- Open
C:\Windows\System32\. - Find the file
httproxy.dlland rename it. - Restart the Adaware service.
macOS
Step 1
Quit and relaunch Speedify. Right-click the Speedify icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen, then choose Quit. After Speedify closes, open the Speedify app again. If the blank UI persists, please generate your Speedify logs from the same menu in the menu bar as the one you used to quit the app, and send the zip file from your desktop to support@speedify.com.
Step 2
Check for third-party security software that may be blocking Speedify. Review any antivirus, firewall, or security apps and confirm they aren't interfering.
ESET for Mac: ESET's firewall can block or limit Speedify. To fix this, configure ESET to allow incoming connections on port 9331.
Linux
Step 1
If you're seeing a blank or static Speedify UI on Linux, try disabling hardware acceleration (HA) for the UI. Run the following command in your terminal:
/usr/share/speedifyui/speedify_ui hwaoff
If you later want to re-enable hardware acceleration, run:
/usr/share/speedifyui/speedify_ui hwaon
