How do I fix Error: "Speedify timed out when trying to login"?

This article explains what to do if you see the error "Speedify timed out when trying to log in." This error means Speedify was not able to reach the login server, which can happen for a few different reasons.

Let's Get Started

Step 1

Try switching to a different server location. The issue may be specific to the server Speedify is currently trying to reach, not your internet connection as a whole.

If Speedify connects successfully after switching servers, the original server may have been temporarily unavailable.

Step 2

Check whether your antivirus or firewall software is blocking Speedify. Security software sometimes prevents Speedify from communicating with the login server.

If you're not sure how to do this, check the documentation for your specific security software.

Step 3

Check whether your internet connection supports Speedify. There are two known situations where Speedify cannot connect:

  • Proxy connections: Speedify does not support connecting through a proxy. If your network routes internet traffic through a proxy server, Speedify will not be able to log in.
  • Restricted ports: Speedify requires access to higher-numbered ports (typically above 49000). If your network or router blocks internet traffic on those ports, Speedify will not be able to connect. You may need to contact your network administrator to check whether those ports are open.
